Meet
local author Kevin Carson at Neill Public Library, June 16, 1:30 pm.
Local
author Kevin Carson will be taking us “Between the Covers” of his book at Neill
Public Library on June 16th, at 1:30 pm. Join us in the Hecht Meeting
Room to hear Mr. Carson speak about his book, The Long Journey of the Nez
Perce: A Battle History from Cottonwood to the Bear Paw.
On the
135th anniversary of the Battle of White Bird Canyon, Mr. Carson will discuss
local connections, research, historical figures, and the events of the war.
June 16th, 1877, found the violence moving from the Salmon River up
onto Idaho's Camas Prairie. On the 17th, the Nez Perce warriors
defeated two troops of soldiers dispatched by General Oliver Otis Howard from
Fort Lapwai to put down the uprising. The entire nation read the
newspaper coverage in suspense as events unfolded.
Mr.
Carson will give an author talk, followed by Q&A with the public and then a
book signing. Copies of the book will be available for purchase on-site
through The Bookie.
