Go Cougs! @ NPL

New and returning WSU students  have been trickling into Pullman, and will continue to do so until classes begin the week of the 19th.

While WSU libraries are a fantastic resource, remember that Neill is here for you, too.  NPL has tools and resources available for our college students and adult learners.

1.  Books.  Yes, books!  While we don't carry textbooks, our collections are very helpful to a wide range of students.  Those in literature classes will find poetry, prose, and a range of fiction from classics to today's hot titles.  Students in the Education program will find a large collection of medal winners, from Caldecott to Coretta Scott King, on our shelves and reservable for checkout.  At NPL you can get popular psychology works for humanities or psych classes, biographies on famous people throughout the ages, and more: check the catalog from home to search for resources.

2.  Computers, wi-fi, and printing.  Public computers are available here in the library, and they all have internet access, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft Excel.  All library users can start with a 55-minute session and, depending on how full the library is, ask for time extensions.  For students with laptops, we have free wi-fi available to support your research.  Many of the tables and work stations in the Heritage Addition and throughout the library are conveniently located next to power outlets, so pull up a chair.  And if you just need to print, the library offers black-and-white printing for $0.25 per page, so you can hand those papers in on time.

3.  Space.  Especially for off-campus dwellers, remember that the library is a convenient place to meet up to work on projects.  Call ahead to find out about using either of our two meeting rooms--both the Young Conference Room and the Hecht Meeting Room have tables, chairs, a whiteboard, and markers.  Both rooms are reservable during the library's open hours (and ask your librarian about after-hours use of the Hecht Room!).

How can you access all of these fantastic services at your local public library?  Come down to the library during any of our open hours (and at least 15 minutes before closing) to get your NPL library card.  Bring a piece of government-issued photo ID, along with something that shows your current address (like a piece of mail) to get full access to our physical and electronic collections.  Your Information Staff are available every hour the library is open to help you with your research and answer questions about the library.  We'll see you in the library soon!
