Local Author Dain White at Neill Public
Library November 5th, 6pm
In
celebration of National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo) in November, local
author Dain White will present at
Neill Public Library on the subject “The
words less written: writing the story you want to read." The program will begin at 6pm in the Hecht Meeting Room.
Dain White is a dreamer with an
addiction to writing and self improvement who daylights as a web development
manager at the University of Idaho. Dain has self-published three full length
novels so far, and is working on his fourth.
Dain writes smart, engaging, witty
and at times deeply poignant hard science fiction space opera, with a strong
emphasis on story and characters. Dain's novels have been well reviewed and
well received.
Dain's writing has been favorably
compared to early Heinlein, Asimov, Clarke, and E.E. "Doc" Smith, and
is best described as classic, classy science fiction, told in the grand old
style of the early 20th century, the kind of stories your grandparents might
have enjoyed as kids - the classic science fiction serial, the old “rocket
tubes to Mars” types of stories with dashing heroes, dastardly space pirates,
and high adventure.
For Dain, the story is everything.
He's a firm believer in crafting a balance between characters, technology
grounded firmly in actual science, math, engineering and physics, and in
general telling a story that is not only thoroughly entertaining, but makes
sense. The perfect story for him is one that his readers will want to share
with their friends, family, and even their most bitter enemies.
