"Tour of England: Songs from
the British Isles" at Neill Public Library, 10/17
NPL’s
October Concert series continues next week on October 17th with the recital performance of Tour of England: Songs of the British Isles,
performed by Juliana Witt and Brian Carter, in the Hecht Meeting Room beginning at 5:30pm.
Juliana Witt
is a teaching assistant at Washington State University in accompanying and
teaching. She holds a Bachelor's and a Master's degree in Piano Performance and
is currently studying Collaborative Piano at WSU. She has taught elementary
class piano, adjudicated for student festivals, and studied pedagogy on a
graduate level. In addition to
teaching and accompanying, Juliana has performed with chamber groups, duos,
band, orchestra, jazz ensemble and musical theatre productions with both piano
and organ.
Brian
Carter is an Instructor of Music at Washington State University. He
teaches Studio Voice, Vocal Literature, Diction for Singers, Musical Style in
Composition, and Rock History and Social Analysis. Before coming to WSU
in the fall of 2012, he was a Graduate Student Instructor at the University of
Michigan. He has his Doctor of Musical
Arts degree at the University of Michigan, studying under baritone Stephen
Lusmann.
Described
by the San Francisco Classical Voice as “a Wagnerian vocalist who can
sing the sword out of Wotan’s tree,” Dr. Carter gained national attention as a
singer of heroic operatic roles. As an apprentice artist, he performed
for two seasons with San Francisco Opera Company’s Merola Opera Program.
In addition, he performed with Opera North. Following his
tenures as a young artist, Dr. Carter spent several years in Seattle studying
under renowned soprano Jane Eaglen.
