Beatrix Potter is 148

This month marks the 148th birthday of renowned children’s author and illustrator Beatrix Potter.  From an early age she showed a remarkable talent with sketching and drawing.  Her favorite subjects were the animals present in her life.  She and her younger brother had a number of pets including rabbits, mice, frogs, lizards, snakes, snails and even, a bat.  She was charmed by these living creatures and wanted to capture that in her renderings of them.  Any reader of her works knows she succeeded on every level!  So, in celebration of her birthday month, head to the Neill Public Library to find wonderful books by and about Beatrix Potter.  You can also check out the several DVDs we have of her work as well.  And if you’re interested in learning more online about this talented woman, you can visit www.peterrabbit.com    Happy Birthday, Miss Potter!
