August is Romance Awareness Month, a time to rekindle and celebrate all that is romantic. It doesn’t have to be about extravagant gifts or expensive meals, flowers or chocolate. In fact, the most simple things can foster a healthy relationship. Things like wildflowers picked from the side of the road on a summer
day or a meal planned and cooked for your significant other giving them a night off. The small gestures,
a call or text just to say “I miss you” or “I’m thinking about you,” the brush
of a hand in passing, a kiss goodbye in the morning and hello in the evening;
these are all romantic gestures that indicate love every day.
Neill Public Library has a variety of books about healthy relationships and romance. Books like Mars and Venus in Love by John Gray, Emotional Fitness for Intimacy by Barton Goldsmith, or Hold Me Tight by Sue Johnson to name a few. And for those of you who prefer fiction, there is a plethora of romance novels in many genres including contemporary, historical, paranormal, and regency; from a variety of great authors including Victoria Alexander, Mary Balogh, Robyn Carr, Janet Dailey, Janet Evanovich, Christine Feehan, Diana Gabaldon, Elizabeth Hoyt, Alexandra Ivy, Eloisa James, Karen Kingsbury, Stephanie Laurens, Debbie Macomber, Carla Neggers, Janette Oke, Carly Phillips, Julia Quinn, Nora Roberts, Sharon Sala, Vicki Lewis Thompson, Caroline Upcher, Carol Vane, Susan Wiggs, Maisey Yates, and Rebecca Zanetti. So stop by Neill Library this month and celebrate romance.
