Wash. Sec. of State Sam Reed Visits

Sam Reed, the Secretary of State for Washington, made a quick stop at NPL this morning for a talk with library staff and board members. Joanna welcomed and introduced Secretary Reed by pointing out the need for state support of public libraries. An average of 3000 patrons visit NPL each week and this is an increase of 17% over last year. In this time of recession, the library is more needed than ever by the public. Discussion ranged from budgets to technology to the Secretary's new 2012 heritage project with the State Library.
