Banned Books Week -- Celebrate Your Freedom to Read

Celebrate your freedom to read during this year’s Banned Books Week September 24 – October 1, 2011. Libraries across the nation will unite to highlight the benefits of free and open access to information while drawing attention to the harms of censorship by spotlighting actual or attempted banning of books across the United States.

This year, for the first time, authors of challenged books and everyday readers from around the world can demonstrate their support for free speech by participating in a “virtual read-out” of banned and challenged books to a dedicated YouTube channel. For information about how to participate, contact Neill Public Library at 509-334-3595.
